1966 Ford Thunderbird Convertible:
This was a complete ground up restoration. Although it was restorable it was a rough car to start with. (The day we were trailering the T-Bird to the shop to begin the restoration we happened to stop at gas station to fill up the truck when a passerby stopped and asked us if we were on the way to the salvage yard. He was lost and couldn’t find it and was looking for directions and assumed that is where we were headed.
The vehicle was completely media blasted the interior, exterior, and underside and the engine compartment as well. The rear quarter panels, outer wheelhouse, and trunk floor panels were all replaced due to excessive rust. The underbody floors, engine compartment and interior floors were also refinished. The exterior body was all reworked, primed, and refinished with PPG refinishing system. The interior parts were restored by customer selected interior shop and installed by us. The convertible top was replaced by Atlantic Upholstery. The vehicle owner handled all the mechanical, electrical and drivetrain restoration himself. This car became a turn key drivable dream from a junk yard prospect.
The T-Bird went on to win best of show at the New England Thunderama all T-Bird car show in 2009 and 2011. And was showcased by the event in 2010 with all the other past Best of Show winners. Also featured on the cover of the New England Vintage T Bird magazine “The Birds Nest”. In 2009 it also took one of the top 50 picks at the Cruisin Downtown show in Manchester NH.
